About gold at spot
Gold bullion at spot is rarer than silver — sovereign-mint coins (Eagles, Maples, Krugerrands) typically carry +3% to +5% premiums even at quiet markets, and bars + rounds usually start around +1.5%. The +1% threshold catches occasional bar deals, kilo lots, and Pre-1933 numismatics priced near melt.
The premium math and freshness gates are identical to the silver page: live dealer prices vs the live spot fix, with a −2% sanity floor and a 24-hour staleness window. Out-of-stock listings are excluded.
The strict +1% threshold relaxes to +2% in 0.5% steps when fewer than 6 gold products qualify. Below the relaxed cap with fewer than 3 products, the section degrades to a "closest 5" fallback with their actual premiums shown — so you can see what gold near spot currently looks like without pretending offers exist that don't.
How we rank
Every dealer listing is measured as premium = (dealer price − spot value) / spot value, where spot value is the live gold price times the product's weight. Offers are ranked ascending by premium so the cheapest qualifying dealer for each canonical product appears first. Prices refresh every 10 minutes; anything older than 24 hours is hidden.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does "gold at spot" mean?
It's our live list of gold bullion offers priced within +1.0% of the spot gold price across every tracked dealer. We refresh the data every 10 minutes; anything older than 24 hours is hidden.
How can dealers afford to sell gold at near-spot?
Dealers run razor-thin margins on bullion to win volume; the affiliate kickback to us comes out of their existing margin, not your price. Numismatic value (mintage rarity, grading) isn't included — these are pure-bullion deals.
How often does this list update?
Every 10 minutes. The threshold ratchets up automatically when no offers qualify at the tightest tier so the list isn't blank during quiet markets.
